Just wondering, since you’ve gotten amazing shots both ways.

I answered: That is a good question. I have pondered it many times. I have always felt that darkroom work was as important as camera work. Both lead to my finished vision. My digital work flow is in close harmony with what I did in the darkroom. I am essentially using the same artistic techniques to achieve my goal. The difference is what I am doing digitally I am doing on my computer instead of the actual manipulation of the light shining through the negative or the manipulation of the chemical development process of the print. It amuses me that I do indeed get the same feeling watching a print come off the printer as I did watching it come up in the tray.

My Journey https://www.keylightfineart.com/blog/2022/4/my-journey I have been a photographer over the course of my lifetime of sixty some years. I have studied its history. I have studied the art of many photography masters. What I have learned is the art of photography is driven by revolutionary change in the medium. From daguerreotype to wet plate to tin type to film to digital. From slow exposures on insensitive emulsions to the ultra-high speeds of digital sensors. In my time I have witnessed the greatest revolution of all, the one from black and white to color.

Thoughts about Visual Information https://www.keylightfineart.com/blog/2021/4/thoughts-about-visual-information Photography is visual information. When I look at a photograph I see literal information and emotional information in it. Visual information tells me the story through the visual facts it contains. I believe in exploring the emotional information in a photograph, how what you see makes you feel. This is what I strive to create in my work. Is my vision created in the camera at the time of capture? Not necessarily. I see a scene or a moment and recognize the significance of it, but beyond that I see its potential as a finished photograph. It is my personal process of editing the non-stop stream of vision into photographs that sing to me. Elicit a feeling from me. Photographs that will live as works of my of art.
