George Ingersoll asked: Quicker opening the file, but does it match the feeling from the dark room as your work appeared? Just wondering, since you’ve gotten amazing shots both ways.
I answered: That is a good question. I have pondered it many times. I have always felt that darkroom work was as important as camera work. Both lead to my finished vision. My digital work flow is in close harmony with what I did in the darkroom. I am essentially using the same artistic techniques to achieve my goal. The difference is what I am doing digitally I am doing on my computer instead of the actual manipulation of the light shining through the negative or the manipulation of the chemical development process of the print. It amuses me that I do indeed get the same feeling watching a print come off the printer as I did watching it come up in the tray.
